Bianca & Andreas

Date:
5 June 2010

As most of you know, we have been on a ‘Europe Tour’ in June. We had a magnificent time. But besides travelling, we also had the opportunity to shoot a really beautiful and fun filled wedding in St. Johann in Tyrol, Austria. Bianca & Andreas got married in a really awesome church in  Jochberg. The church had alot detail and decorations. The photos came out very colourful. The priest also made the ceremony real interesting and fun.

After church they had drinks for the guests on a big patch or lawn, in a garden, just opposite the church. Thereafter we all moved on to the Reception which was held at Schöne Aussicht Hotel. This Hotel is located on a mountain, so you can imagine how beautiful the view was. This part becomes interesting: There was coffee and cake for the guests. A very different tradition in Austria, is that the Bride and Groom get stolen. Yes, you understood right, all the men of the wedding steal the bride and all the women of the wedding steal the groom. Both parties move away from the Reception area somewhere in town, in a bar, restaurant or whatever is chosen by the thieves.

The Best Man and Woman of the Bride and Groom are not allowed to join these parties. They need to stay behind, because their job is to find these two parties. And they need to buy the Bride and Groom from these wedding guests. They also need to pay for the bill that is made by the guests wherever they go. Now the tricky thing is, the longer the Best Man and Woman take to find these parties, the higher the bill becomes.

When we all returned from the ‘Stealing Part’ of the wedding, we had a delicious 5 course meal for dinner. During the Reception it is also tradition to play several games that are organized by the wedding parties.  Which was really awesome, at Midnight they served Gulasch Soup. This is something really nice, especially for those who like to party.  Another tradition is where the guests individually hand over their gifts to the couple at midnight as opposed to the Namibian way of placing their wedding gifts for the couple on a gift table. And as an addition to this, each guest can say something nice to the couple while handing over their gift.

We took Bianca & Andreas couple photos in the Woods. There was also a magnificent and stunning Waterfall which added an extra touch to the photos. It was truly unique to shoot this wedding. I appreciate the awesome opportunity we had to photograph this wedding.
